​TALENT QUEST!

This is a great opportunity for our students to show their skills to the school community in a safe, encouraging and supportive environment. While it is a competition, each successful applicant will receive positive feedback and finalists will have access to weekly mentoring sessions.

Students from grades 1 – 6 can audition in one of four categories: Singers, Dancers (including gymnasts & cheerleaders), Musicians and Entertainers (acting, comedy, magic tricks etc). Students will only be competing against other students in the same category (e.g. singers vs singers). Students will only be allowed to audition once.

If your child is interested in applying, please support them by ensuring that their performance is:

·       Something they know well and are confident with

·       Something that is age appropriate

·       Something that will be entertaining for the whole school to watch

·       No more than 2 – 3 minutes long

Also consider if they will need any of the things listed below as they will be responsible for supplying it for their act:

·       Any props

·       Costumes

·       Music to sing/ dance to (no YouTube videos please. USB or file on their iPad is preferred)

Students who successfully audition and are selected as a finalist will attend weekly mentoring on a Monday at first or second break, or 2nd break on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Failure to do this could result in another act taking their place. These mentoring sessions are not only for practice, but a chance for a teacher to give them feedback and help them to further improve their performance before the final concert at the end of the term.

TimeLine:

Weeks 2 – 4       Auditions (Mondays 1st or 2nd break, or 2nd break on Tuesdays and Wednesdays)

Weeks 5 – 9       Mentoring (Mondays 1st or 2nd break, or 2nd break on Tuesdays and Wednesdays)

Week 10, Monday June 23rd – Talent Quest Concert (11:20am – 1pm)
