Representative Team Sport Pathway

​​​​​​​​​​Representative sport is an integral part of the Metropolitan West School Sport structure, providing opportunities for students who show aptitude and talent in their respective sport/s. The representative school sport program provides opportunities to progress through different levels, starting at district level (SMSS is a part of the Central Comets District) and then progressing to regional, state, national and even international events for some of our school sports.

Nominations for students to progress to the District trials for the "Big3" Swimming, Cross Country and Track and Field are determined by school events/trials.  Please see the additional page ​ for the process for selection. 

TRIALS FOR DISTRICT TEAM SPORTS:​

Students who are turning 10, 11, or 12 years of age within the year of nomination and wish to attend a district trial for a team sport must have a parent/guardian submit an Expression of Interest email to the school. The school team will then determine, using key criteria (eg knowledge of the sport, sportsmanship, skill and ability in the chosen sport, performance under pressure, attendance and ability to successful represent SMSS) whether the nomination can proceed based on criteria being meet.  It is important to note that these trials are for representative teams and only students who demonstrate a high level of skill and ability, sportsmanship and knowledge of the game can be considered for selection.​

In the event of high levels of interest, a school-based trial may be conducted, as only a limited number of students are eligible to be nominated for the district trial. All nominations must receive school endorsement, and the required documentation must be completed for students to participate in the trial.

To nominate your child, please email SMSS_PE@springmountainss.eq.edu.au no later than two weeks prior to the scheduled trial date listed below. When submitting your email, kindly use the following format:
